Frequently Asked Questions
It’s natural to have questions. Let us answer them!
01.
At Jasper Psychotherapy & Co., we believe therapy can be likened to a blank canvas, it’s what you make of it! Whether you are simply seeking a listening ear or coming in with specific target areas to improve, we will ensure your sessions are tailored to your needs. Not sure where to start? Our therapists will get to know you and provide a fresh perspective on potential growth areas. All that’s required for therapy is an openness to grow!
02.
Research shows that the primary factor for therapeutic success is the relationship between the counselor and the client. At Jasper Psychotherapy & Co., we prioritize ensuring your therapeutic relationship is a great fit. While maintaining a professional relationship, our therapists facilitate self-exploration free from judgment or ridicule, a space where you feel safe to authentically be yourself.
Before starting the therapeutic journey together, the counselor and client will discuss whether both parties are a good fit. If the counselor does not feel they are a good fit for your therapeutic needs (i.e., personality, presenting problem, financial commitment, etc.), our office will send referrals we believe to be a better match. If we agree to continue your therapeutic journey, the real work begins! Your therapist will provide the skills and knowledge to help facilitate your growth, and all we ask from you is openness and commitment to the process.
Jasper Psychotherapy & Co. values a collaborative approach, and your therapist will elicit feedback from you throughout your work together. If, at any point, things are not working, transparency with your counselor is always recommended.
03.
To ensure our clinicians can focus their efforts on providing the highest level of care to clients, Jasper Psychotherapy & Co. is out-of-network with all insurance providers. However, we are happy to provide a superbill upon request, allowing clients to seek reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits.
04.
While there is no definitive answer to the timeline of services at Jasper Psychotherapy & Co., our ultimate goal is to see you graduate from therapy, knowing you have the skills to maintain a happy, healthy life away from a therapeutic setting. You don’t want to be in treatment forever, and we don’t want you to! While you and your counselor will determine the frequency and length of therapy together, most clients begin with a weekly or bi-weekly frequency in the beginning stages to optimize progress. However, suppose you are looking for maintenance work or approach the maintenance phase in our work together. In that case, clients may start to space sessions to monthly check-ins before discussing termination.
05.
The law generally protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and a therapist. No information is disclosed without prior written permission from the client. However, there are some exceptions required by law to this rule. Exceptions include suspected abuse or neglect, threatening severe bodily harm to another person, and/or intending to harm themselves.
For parents seeking treatment for their child: While a collaborative approach is valued at Jasper Psychotherapy & Co., a counselor’s duty is to the client (the child). Confidentiality and privacy will be provided to the client regardless of age to ensure a trusting relationship. Separate parental updates on treatment will always be provided upon request, and parents are expected to be available for consultation at the counselor's request.
